We're back from our amazing kayak/backpacking trip in the Abel Tasman National Park. It was so beautiful. The kayaking was definitely a bit more challenging than we were expecting (strong headwinds and big waves) but we made it through unscaved (and a bit buffer, I would hope). The campsites were lovely and each had at least one resident bird that amused us.
These pictures don't do the trip justice, but here you go:
One of the bays as seen from the track.
View from the kayak (a calm part)
hiking was stunningWe have also throroughly enjoyed our accommodation at the Wheelhouse Inn in Nelson. The Captain's Quarters are delightful with all the amenities one would need at the end of a four-day treck in the woods. We were even treated to a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate our honeymoon. We do not want to go, but we must move on.

Hi C&J, outstanding pictures. Is it true that there are more sheep than people in Kiwiland? I dont see any of either in your pictures! Really enjoying seeing your trip unfold....Mark
Wind & snow forecast for Topsfield; but in the sun room, we have a slide show of New Zealand in spring...
Hi guys. Looks like you are enjoying your trip. Weather looks a lot nicer and warmer than what we have here in the states. Wasnt sure when you were getting back. (not that you want to). When you do, give your sis and niece a call. If you havent gotten a xmas tree yet at the house, Joce and I were hoping to tag along with you guys if you were going to be cutting your own tree this year. I have never cut my own xmas tree before and thought it would be fun to go with a few experts who have done that before. Well, we look forward to seeing you and hearing more and seeing more photos on your trip. Couldnt remember if you said you were coming back to the states on December 9th? Have a nice and safe flight home. Godspeed. Love Jen, Joce, and Ed.
:)
I'm blown away by the beauty of your photos. I can't wait to hear about the exciting kayaking! (you mean it had more waves than the Ipswich??!) I miss you guys!
